Barock Project has once again delivered the goods with their seventh album, "Time Voyager." As one of our favorite bands here at Prog Radio, I admit to a bit of bias, but I am confident that most listeners will agree: this is some of their best work to date. After a five-year hiatus, partly due to the pandemic, Barock Project has returned with an album that is well worth the wait.
"Time Voyager" is a journey through the folds of time, with each song opening a door to different dimensions. This concept is masterfully executed, making the album feel cohesive while offering a variety of musical experiences. With 12 tracks spanning a lengthy 1 hour and 11 minutes, the album still manages to hold attention from start to finish.
"Time Voyager" is a triumph for Barock Project. It's a testament to their dedication to their craft and their ability to evolve while staying true to their melodic prog roots...solidifying its place as one of the best releases of the year.
The production quality is exceptional, reflecting the significant time and effort the band invested in this project. The intricate arrangements and seamless blending of rock and orchestral elements create a rich, immersive listening experience. Tracks like "Carry On" and "The Lost Ship Tavern" stand out for their dynamic compositions and evocative themes.
Barock Project has always excelled at creating melodic, accessible prog rock, and "Time Voyager" is no exception. The band's ability to explore different musical styles while maintaining a cohesive sound is impressive. Whether it's the hint of Eastern influences in "Summer Set You Free" and "Kyanite Jewel" or the reflective qualities of "Shibuya 3 A.M." and "Mediterranean," each track brings something unique to the album.
The conceptual heart of the album lies in the two tracks "Voyager" and "Voyager’s Homecoming." These pieces encapsulate the journey theme with their cinematic and orchestral arrangements, punctuated by powerful rock passages, highlighting the band's creativity and technical prowess.
"Time Voyager" is a triumph for Barock Project. It's a testament to their dedication to their craft and their ability to evolve while staying true to their melodic prog roots. We believe this album will resonate with long-time fans and newcomers alike, solidifying its place as one of the best releases of the year.
