THE RULES (in a nutshell)
Each episode of Can You Dig It? features five panelists who each submit one track they believe is brilliant—but underappreciated—gems of prog. Panelists listen, react, and rate each track on a 1–5 scale based on how much they "dig it." Points are awarded to the song’s original submitter, with bonus points for obscurity—so the deeper the cut (as long as it delivers), the better the score. After all five tracks are played, scores are totaled, and one panelist is crowned the week’s ultimate Prospector of Prog! (There is a bit more to it than that, and it all gets explained when you turn in and listen!)
Scoring Scale
1 - I wanted to gouge my ears out with a fork!
2 - Eh, not my thing
3 - It was awwwright
4 - I dug it
5 - I want to hear more!
Bonus Points
Up to four bonus points are awarded for each panelist who was not familiar with the song.
One additional bonus point is awarded if ALL FOUR of the other panelists were not familiar with the song.
This brings the total possible points per song to 25.
Golden & Silver Shovel Songs
Any song that gets the total possible 25 points is a "Golden Shovel" song (every panelist was NOT familiar with the song AND they each gave it the full 5-shovel rating). Any song that gets all 5's but doesn't get all the bonus points is awarded a Silver Shovel.
🎖️Winners
The panelist who receives the highest score (up to the possible 25 points per episode) wins the episode and bragging rights!
