If Dream Theater is like a batch of chocolate chip cookies, Terminal Velocity is like a bowl of just the chocolate chips…they are very good, but can be a bit much after eating the whole bowl. Sure, Petrucci and Portnoy sound amazing together, but your ears can wear a bit with so much focus on the guitar work without all the rest balanced in (songs, vocals, keyboards, etc.). 3.5 Stars.
