Catalyst*R's sophomore album, "Pace of Change," marks a significant moment for the band, building on the success of their debut with a collection of tracks that delve into the complexities of life's ever-changing journey. Released on March 1st, 2024, the album continues to showcase the band's commitment to blending technical skill with melodic accessibility, which of course, we always appreciate here at Prog Radio.
The album has 7 tracks and lasts just over an hour, including three 10+ minute epics. The centerpiece of the album, "Pendle Hill 1612," stands out for its historical narrative, diving into the events of 1612 in northern England. This track exemplifies the band's ability to blend storytelling with music, creating a rich soundscape that brings the past to life. The album as a whole maintains a balance between introspection and accessibility, with tracks like "Unbroken" and "Homesick" resonating on a deeply personal level.

Produced with the same passion and dedication as their debut, "Pace of Change" reflects Catalyst*R's growth as artists. The trio, consisting of Damien Child on vocals, Greg Pringle on drums, and Gary Jevon covering everything else, continues to push themselves in their exploration of crossover prog.
There are some very strong songs on this album (see our featured tracks listed below). You can plan on hearing each of them on Prog Radio in the coming weeks, as well as being featured in this week’s ‘What’s New Proggy Cats?” shows on Monday and Tuesday.
