This album came out way back in March of last year, and it is my second quick review today for an album from 2023, a year that just simply doesn’t want to go away!

I’ll make this quick. If Prog Radio had a “house band” this would be it. Exit Stage Left is an EXTREMELY melodic crossover prog band from Sweden. For much of this album, you’ll think you’re listening to a good ol’ pop album, but then the prog kicks in just enough to make you not feel guilty for that foot that won’t stop tapping.

Exit Stage Left

If you like melodic prog, and I’m assuming you do if you listen to Prog Radio, then “Appleberry Trees” is just the album for you. It’s quickly becoming my guilty pleasure, such poppy proggy gooey goodness.

If you like melodic prog (ala Kite Parade, Kayak, Ambrosia, etc.), and I’m assuming you do if you listen to Prog Radio, then “Appleberry Trees” is just the album for you. It’s quickly becoming my guilty pleasure, such poppy proggy gooey goodness. Fortunately the album cover is all prog, just in case someone walks in and catches me dancing to this. “Look! It’s Prog! No, really it is!"

Even though it came out nearly a year ago, it’s new to me and most likely to our listeners, so I’m sliding several of these songs into our New Music rotation, as well as featuring it in this week’s What’s New Proggy Cats.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go put my dancing shoes on.
