Introduced to us by an astute listener, and given our admiration for bands like UPF, Damanek, Southern Empire, The Samurai of Prog, and Subsignal, this album immediately caught our attention.
Marek Arnold, renowned German multi-instrumentalist specializing in saxophone, keyboard, and clarinet, is also an accomplished composer and producer. With contributions to over 60 albums, many of which involve the aforementioned bands, he's no stranger to the progressive rock scene. However, this marks his debut solo venture.
...a diverse ensemble of guest musicians and vocalists, drawing parallels to The Samurai of Prog rather than a strictly instrumental collection.
Don't let his instrumental prowess mislead you into expecting a purely saxophone-driven instrumental album. Instead, be prepared for a comprehensive progressive rock experience. The album showcases a diverse ensemble of guest musicians and vocalists, drawing parallels to The Samurai of Prog rather than a strictly instrumental collection.
The inception of this album was rather serendipitous for Marek. Originally commissioned to compose an anthem for a song festival, which ultimately manifested as the track "Stay", he found the creative process so invigorating that he continued, culminating in an album boasting over an hour of compelling material.
Tune into Prog Radio to savor select tracks from this album, featured in our New Music rotation. We're ardently hoping this is merely the inaugural release from the Marek Arnold Artrock Project, with many more to follow!
