After a decade-long hiatus, Moon Safari makes a triumphant return with "Himlabacken Vol. 2," to be released on December 6th. This album, succeeding their previous "Himlabacken Vol. 1," marks a significant milestone in the band's journey, one marred by uncertainties and the unforeseen challenges of the pandemic. The band's decision to delay their 2017-ready album in pursuit of perfection, culminating in their collaboration with Rich Mouser for mixing, reflects their unwavering dedication to their art.

"Himlabacken Vol. 2" arrives amidst high expectations, and it does not disappoint. The album is a testament to Moon Safari's ability to blend intricate hooks and harmonies with a wide array of musical styles. An obvious contender for Album of the Year. Spanning nearly 70 minutes across nine tracks, including a remarkable 21-minute epic, the album takes listeners on a diverse musical journey. This variety, especially evident in the epic (perhaps the best epic of the year), showcases the band's versatility and creative prowess.

"Himlabacken Vol. 2" arrives amidst high expectations, and it does not disappoint. The album is a testament to Moon Safari's ability to blend intricate hooks and harmonies with a wide array of musical styles. An obvious contender for Album of the Year.

The album stands out in a year already rich with musical excellence. Its release is not just a return but a redefinition of Moon Safari's sound, amplified by the addition of ex-Black Bonzo drummer Mikael Israelsson. The impact of Israelsson's drumming brings a fresh dynamism to the band’s sound. Furthermore, Rich Mouser's mixing elevates the album's sonic quality, imparting a clarity and punch that resonates throughout.

The first single, "Between the Devil and Me," exemplifies the album's exploration of human emotion, oscillating between confusion and clarity, all while delivering a hard-rocking sound. The lyrics, rich in symphonic rock elements and soulful romanticism, are a nod to the band's two-decade journey and their mastery in crafting uplifting melodies.

"Himlabacken Vol. 2" is not just an album; it's a journey back to "Heaven Hill," offering a liberating and immersive musical experience. It's a showcase of Moon Safari's resilience and artistic evolution, making it an essential listen for fans and newcomers alike. With its intricate compositions and emotionally resonant themes, this album is poised to fly high in the realms of progressive rock. 5 Stars indeed!
