Blending Borders, an Austrian alternative/progressive rock band, has released their debut album, Deceiving Dreams, Part 1, after being formed by Oliver Pichler (songwriter, singer, and guitar player) in 2015. The band's sound combines rock, progressive, jazz, and funk, and features various instruments and musicians, including strings, horns, piano, and harpsichord. Despite taking eight years to work on their first album, the result is a phenomenal 13-track, 67-minute release with great and often surprising music that will keep listeners engaged.
Surprisingly, Prog Radio, featuring over 400 prog bands, has not previously featured any bands from Austria until now. Blending Borders is a welcome addition to the New Music rotation on Prog Radio.
Overall, Deceiving Dreams, Part 1 is a very solid first release from Blending Borders and deserves serious attention from progressive rock fans.
